West Zone Power Distribution Company is the largest power distribution company in Bangladesh. It is an enterprize of Bangladesh Power Development Board. The power sector has been transformed into separate entities for generation, transmission, and distribution to make it a more accountable and service-oriented institution by reducing system loss and strengthening the financial position. As part of the reform program, and with the aim of reducing system loss and strengthening the financial position in the power generation, transmission, and distribution systems, including the division of the power sector, the West Zone Power Distribution Company Limited (WZPDCL) was incorporated in November 2002 as a power distribution company under the Public Limited Companies Act, 1994.
